If you’re a busy professional looking for personal training in the City of London or near Liverpool Street, this article shares five practical tips to help you stay fit while balancing your career, family, and city life.
Finding time to exercise can be tough.
Especially when work, family, and social commitments fill your day. It often feels like there simply aren’t enough hours. Many delay getting fit, hoping to start when life slows down — but that day rarely comes. Instead, create a health and fitness plan that fits your current lifestyle, not one you hope to have in the future.
I’ve Been A Personal Trainer In The City of London For Over A Decade
Here are my five top tips to help you fit fitness into your busy City life:
- Plan, prepare and prioritise: Plan your workouts, schedule them in your diary, and treat them like important meetings—you wouldn’t cancel on your boss, so don’t cancel on yourself.
- Time effective workouts: A whole-body strength training routine, performed with high reps and short rests, builds muscle, burns fat, and improves fitness in just 45 minutes—perfect before work or at lunch.
- Prioritise nutrition: Don’t have time for meal prep? Use a meal delivery service or learn to make healthy choices on the go. It takes far less time to avoid eating 500 calories than to burn it off with exercise.
- Create systems: Build simple routines that save time and automate your fitness habits—pack your gym kit the night before, choose a gym on your way home, and book childcare in advance.
- Stay active: Incorporate activity into daily tasks such as walking to meetings, taking the stairs instead of the lift, or playing sports with your kids. It all adds up and burns calories.
You don’t need to exercise for hours to stay fit.
I encourage my busy clients to aim for at least two strength training sessions per week and 10,000 steps per day. Anything beyond that is a bonus.Staying fit in a busy City life is about smart choices, not perfection. Start small, stay consistent, and build habits that fit your routine.
Your health is worth the effort—even when time is tight.
